#4 of 66 in Parks in Banff National Park
Survey the majestic Lake Minnewanka, its name meaning "Water of the Spirits" in the language of the indigenous peoples who settled here at least 10,000 years ago. The longest lake in Canada offers many hiking and biking trails to explore and enjoy, as well as a wealth of amazing wildlife to observe, from elk to bears. Consider a boat tour from the lake’s west end, which makes a great way to enjoy the changing faces of the impressive 3,162 m (10,374 ft) Mount Aylmer, which stands imposingly next to the lake. • There is a lot of nice scenery here that is all easy to walk to. I didn't go past the bridge, there may be things to see past that but may take more effort to reach.  more »
  • It seems that every lake in Alberta is beautiful. It is hard to pick a favorite, but Lake Minnewanka is near the top of the list for lovely views and amenities.  more »

  • Lovely lake and hiking trail. One of my favorite lakes to come to for the hike and the scenery. Absolutely beautiful. Brought my mother whom was visiting from the States and she fell in love and absolutely loved it. It's great for a lovely cook out or even a day trip to even nature, trail not required.
  • Words can not describe the beauty of this lake and location. The water is a turquoise blue and it is surrounded by large gorgeous mountains and greenery. There are activities to do there such as renting canoes, kayaks and small motor boats. They even have a cruise you can take which was definitely worth it. The scenery was absolutely stunning. The pictures I will be posting do not do it justice. A must see if you come to Alberta.
  • This is a very beautiful spot. We came on a nice hot summer day and were able to dip our feet in the ice cold water. We didn't do any of the water activities - boat tour, rent boats and kayaks. They also have a boat launch as well. Parking can be a challenge after midmorning. They do offer a shuttle from a parking lot near the main road. That is a good option if you arrive late. There is a snack shop and we'll maintained restrooms. You could easily spend a few hours or more depending on what you decide to do.
  • Gorgeous long, big lake. Beautiful turquoise waters. While leaving we spotted 2 bears eating off the side of the road. It was amazing to see and a great way to end my trip.
  • This is a beautiful lake. You can do a lot of activities around the lake backcountry camping, kayak, boat, fishing, hiking. There is a restaurant called the Black Anchor and they have great burger! The lake is beautiful, it also possible to do a guided tour on the lake. Beautiful place to spend some time and a beautiful behind this lake to discover.
