  • Awesome day trip skiing here, again. Best conditions I have experienced here. You can't control the weather, so that's not why I gave it a 5. Staff were very welcoming from arrival to departure. Amazi...  more »

  • I'm honestly surprised at myself that I haven't reviewed Sunshine long ago. We love this resort, consider it our "home base" resort, and go at least a few times each season. Its location way up high and right on the continental divide results in some of the best powder and big snow dumps in the Rockies. The terrain is wide and sprawling, so you can always find a spot out of the wind, in the sun, away from too many people on a busy day, tree skiing, fast skiing, multiple terrain parks, and just a whole variety of fun, little pockets that you can never learn in only 1 or 2 or even 3 visits. The staff are always friendly, the atmosphere great, the scenery is SPECTACULAR, probably one of the most beautiful areas, I'd say, and the layout between lifts easy to figure out within a day. Lots of amenities and good food, but keep in mind they are typical ski resort prices. Service centres at both the top and bottom of the gondola, should you need any quick work done. Also, their lift ticket pricing is better than most other hills of comparable size and service... and, if you follow their site, there are random "free ski" days for doing things like dressing up as Santa, or Elvis, etc. :) Good spot for learners as well with many different green runs to help tune skills, and the best ski-out I know of. Awesome hill, always fun!
  • Fantastic resort that the family all loves. Place does get busy and the price of the food is astronomical but that's just a function of it being a popular place. Definitely get the discounted ski passes at AMA or Costco otherwise you're paying $129 for an adult pass. Just the gondola ride up to the village is a nice touch, lots of variety of runs but some of the greens have some pretty bad dead spots. Would definitely be bad if you are a snowboarder. Since they are pretty high up on the mountain, the resort gets lots of fresh powder so the runs are always well covered and groomed. Tons of snow if you like the back bowls. Nice added touch that you have the ski out that goes all the way down the mountain and back to the parking lot.
  • One of my favorite hills. Lots of chairs and variety of runs for all levels of riders. The ski out adds an extra half hour of fun to end your day. Really long season with a lot of snow most years. Great views from almost anywhere. Good terrain parks if you are into that. Parking is a bit of a drag make sure you go early so you can get in the lot. It can be a little pricey too so get your discount cards or passes from Costco ahead of time.
  • As a person without previous experience snowboarding I had a very good time. I only took the easy green runs and they were excellent for me, very challenging at first, and fun once you got to know them. I didn't take any other runs but there seemed to be a wide range of choices for all experience levels. Staff was friendly and helpful. The price was really good, specially compared to skiing resorts in the US. We got a good deal by staying in the lodge as well. If you're not lodging in the mountain, consider that you need to take a gondola up to the resort, which takes approximately 15 minutes.
  • In my opinion Sunshine Village is one of the best ski resorts for intermediate skiing/more laid-back advanced skiers. It is also easily the best looking resort I've ever seen. It is slightly less suitable for snowboarding as there are a lot of flats that make it more difficult to traverse. The opening temperatures will also frequently experience local inversion and gain 15-20 degrees. The snow quality can be a little poor though.
