Take things down a gear during a relaxing stroll through Annapolis Royal Historic Gardens. Established in 1986 in a scenic position overlooking a tidal river valley, the gardens explore Nova Scotia's natural heritage, as well as the changing ways that communities have tamed, used, and appreciated the plant life native to the region. Walk through the historically themed gardens, such as an apple orchard arranged according to 18th-century practices; a Victorian garden bright with colorful annuals; and a large pine forest, representing pre-Columbian times when the area was inhabited by the Mi'kmaq. A visit to Annapolis Royal Historic Gardens represents just the start of the adventure when you use our Annapolis Royal tour planner to plot your vacation.

  • This is a wonderful garden experience. My wife and I took the one hour walking tour with a docent, and learned so much more than touring by ourselves. There is rich history in the gardens; our docent ...  read more »

  • We had a wonderful tour guide who showed us gardening trends dating back 400 years including the reconstructed Acadian house and gardens from 1671. We all thoroughly enjoyed this. It was well worth it as we discovered much more which we might have overlooked on our own.
  • Amazing flower gardens but I liked the historical and experimental vegetable gardens the best. We specifically visited for the Acadian cottage which was worthwhile but not something that takes much time to take in.
  • "Keukenhof in Canada " described it all except the majority is rose. The outside dyke is a nice historical walk without flowers lol.
  • Amazing collection with an interesting variety, friendly staff and kid friendly (as long as they aren't rough with the flowers)
  • This is a magical place with lovely landscaping, colorful flowers, and creative gardens. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit. What is more they had an electric scooter for my handicapped husband free of charge. Also, it was just the right size to enjoy without overwhelming. This garden was a lovely, enjoyable interlude in our travels. What is more, they gave out round cucumbers as we left.
