Wat Thmey (Killing Fields), Siem Reap
Categories: Historic Sites, Tourist Spots
Visit the memorial at Wat Thmey (Killing Fields) to pay your respects to the victims of Cambodia's genocide. The temple holds a dark past and a horrendous history of the Khmer Rouge's cruel regime and its terror. Feel the spiritual resilience of the locals at this memorial, which honors the death of their loved ones and traces the horrors of this period. Many of the older community members survived the massacres, so getting a local guide will enhance your understanding with a personal history of the place. It's like a normal Temple, so quiet and no tourist here. There is a small gallery explaining about how they kill the people, and they don't even light on the gallery. A bit disappointed actually.
