Ta Som, Siem Reap

4.5
Visit Ta Som, a small 12th century-temple in the ancient city of Angkor. Nestled in a wooded area, the temple dates back to the rule of the Khmer king Jayavarman VII. Enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of the temple, surrounded by a shady grove, and admire its stone ruins, adorned with intricate carvings and figurines. Nature has blended with the man-made structures of this ancient site, with one of the gopuram, or entrance walls, completely overgrown by a sacred fig tree, making for a great photo opportunity. • Nice website that has nothing to envy to the most famous sites but definitely smaller in size. Definitely spend some time

  • This place is a little further than the main temple area, and thus has lesser tourists which makes it a better place to see the stone marvels in some peace. Drive through the forests to reach here is ...  more »

  • The main part of this temple wasn't particularly unique in any way (still beautiful & amazing though). However the entrance at the back had the most amazing sight out of everything I saw at the Angkor complex - the way the tree & its roots had completely grown over the doorway was simply stunning. It was so sensational I sat there for almost 15 minutes, just looking at it.
  • Nice small well preserved temple, hidden in the jungle and overgrown with big trees which had become an integral part of its structure. Short walk through the jungle can also be a nice experience – you might find a small Khmer orchestra playing traditional Khmer music, so your walk will be filled with calming sounds (great for meditation). I definitely recommend visiting this one.
  • Another of the the ruin temple in Angkor. This one is great because it is small and not so popular with visitors so you can have a great time wondering around and admiring the temple. Do not miss out the East gate/gopura like me. Exit the east gate and see the tree breaking down the gopura.
  • Fantastic temple stop on the 'Big Circuit' of temples in the Angkor Park.
  • Our favourite temple, smaller than others but it has faces and a certain charm about it; nestled in the jungle.
