Roluos Temples, Siem Reap
(3.9/5 based on 180+ reviews on the web)
See some of the oldest temples dating back to the Khmer civilization at Roluos Temples. Built of brick and sandstone-- typical for the classical Khmer period--the three temples carry characteristic decorative elements, such as columns and lintels ornamented with leaf patterns, niches with female figures, monster heads, and representations of Hindu gods. Look for the remnants of a protective wall that originally encircled the temples. If you want to explore ancient monuments at your own pace and far from the crowds, this may be the right place for you. • I saw these ones on the way home after Beng Mealea. They are quite nice, lots of cool carvings and such, but I would only do these if you have time after seeing the main circuit temples. Less crowded ...  more »
  • I'd only do this group of temples if you have lots of time. I'd also do them early on. They are older and smaller then others. This is wonderful in it's own right - but after some of the more impressi...  more »
  • Start with these temples to better understand the historical chronology and evolution of Angkor over the centuries of his glory. I strongly advise to contact Angkor Dorn Drivers on trip advisor to cook up a great program on several days, whatever the duration (3 days is a minimum) at an unbeatable price.
