Ruin
Marvel at the magnificent stone remains of a pyramid-shaped temple-mountain at Prae Roup Temple, a masterpiece of ancient Hindu masonry built in 961 CE. Dedicated to Shiva, intricately carved stone facades cropped and darkened by time and weather offer an awe-inspiring spectacle for visitors approaching and climbing the huge 127 m by 116 m (417 m by 380 ft) elevated platform. Believed to have been used for cremations, this impressive brick and sandstone structure, built on what was once a man-made island, displays warm colors and the magical play of light and shade. After conquering a steep stairway leading to the structure, you'll be rewarded with a breathtaking panorama over the area. • Pre Rup is a great temple to visit in Angkor. It is a partially restored temple mountain, the climb to the top tier is steep and challenging but the view is great. It is not crowded, so it is a great temple for you to wander around, explore and contemplate. It is very peaceful, definitely worth visiting if you have the time.
  • Just amazing! You are almost free to walk everywhere. Take care, because is not so much shadows; )
  • This is one of the places tourist guides will take you for watching beautiful sunset. With this one, don’t really expect the sunset to be something special – it might happen that in some specific part of the year sunset can really make the stone turn red, but the only thing we saw was sun getting lower on the horizon, even without the sky changing color. The temple itself is pretty deteriorated and doesn’t offer much in comparison to other temples in the Angkor complex.
  • Prae Roup is one of the more remote of the temples at the Angkor complex but is definitely worth a visit particularly if you are the climb to the top. Much quieter and more contemplative than some of the very busy temples.
  • Quite and relaxes. Hardly any other people here.
