Meychrey Floating Village, Siem Reap

(1/5 based on 160+ reviews on the web)
Experience a unique way of life and learn about fishing communities at Meychrey Floating Village. This floating village sits on the edge of a man-made canal, with the residents relying mostly on fishing and tourism to get by. As you explore the river by boat, you’ll get a glimpse of everyday life on the stilted houses, as well as seeing a school packed full of studying students. Bird-watchers will also revel in the chance to spot an abundance of bird life while floating along the river. Sadly, due to the construction of dams upstream, global warming, and overfishing, the fish stocks are declining at an alarming rate, leading to high levels of poverty in the area. Use our Siem Reap trip itinerary builder to arrange your visit to Meychrey Floating Village and other attractions in Siem Reap.

The water of the Mekong River flows into the Lake during the rainy season (May to October); the water goes up the river. The Lake fills. The season dry (supplement in months), the river debits in a good way...
