Explore the floating fishing villages on the shores of Tonle Sap Lake at Kompong Phluk. As you tour the area by boat, immerse yourself in the traditions and lifestyle of the locals, who depend on the lake's bounty. The environmental and education center provides an abundance of information regarding the harbor's natural wonders, its ecology, and how humans influence and maintain the region. Explore the floating city's stilted structures, packed with fishers, craftspeople, boat-makers, and peculiar markets supplied by local crocodile and fish farms. Prepare for haggling and begging, as many retailers and solicitors can get rather pushy. Put Kompong Phluk into our Siem Reap holiday planner and find out what's close by, where to stay, and where to head next.

I usually get bored with long reviews, but if you really want to go for this tour, please go quickly through this one. We read about the fairly overpriced tour through the floating village, but lying ...  more »

After seeing all the temples of Angor decided to take a trip to the floating villages. With tuk tuk from Siem Reap takes approximately half an hour ($ 15-20). Once at the top you have to pay a figure exaggerated in order to Charter a boat. 20 bucks each independent of the number of people. We then spent 5 $100 us!!! Unacceptable in our view (South East Asia). Once started the boat in 10 minutes you will reach the village. Picturesque in itself (we saw in August then with water) .... too bad to go between the houses should move to a small canoe and other pay 10 USD per person!!! Total path length 1 hour without canoe. Unfortunately the whole thing turns into a tourist trap. There is no interaction with local people and it has the feel of being teased all the time. Recommended? Bah

We have it made as advised by our tuk tuk for day. 2km before the arrival to the barks asked $ 30 per person to tour of the floating village and tell us that everything was included in this award more to pay during the ride. We give up because had not at all planned to do and any planned budget for qq thing spontaneous. They catch up with us and we eventually give in to 20 dollars per person. Which is huge compared to the other attractions in the area but this was may be essential and unique, so we we are launched. A ride from 1:30 to go back the same way, just of the houses on stilts and stop floating to announce that for the ride between the trees and the true village floating it retail is 10 euros more per person. We were very disappointed to pay $ 20 per person for a ride that did not even include the true ballad in the heart of the trees and in the heart of the floating village. Really too bad and false sales.
