Kbal Spean, Siem Reap

4.1
#1 of 14 in Parks in Siem Reap
Waterfall Water Body
Carved into a terraced sandstone riverbed deep in the jungle, Kbal Spean features elaborate scenes from the Sanskrit epic Ramayana. Follow a 2 km (1.2 mi) uphill walk to the site, pausing to see a balancing rock and waterfalls en route. Once there, admire the exquisite carving of Vishnu cut into the bank, as well as intricate floral motives washed by the clear water cutting through the rock. Search for the pink sandstone's countless lingas, rendered in the 10th and 11th centuries to bless the waters, and look for board game-like carvings on the very bed. Wash your hands here for good luck. Hire a guide to explain the Hindu tradition to you, and bring plenty of water. • It was definitely worth our walk. I did not realize it was such a long walk and through woods and through a trail that was not the greatest. That being said it was a unique experience to CVs carvings ...  more »
  • I want to go to Cambodia Tourism last day of choice will, I see on the morning, guide in the comfort of the hotel's without visited. About an hour and a half from the city hotel. It has become more and more of the countryside and car park halfway up the mountain, parked, climbing the mountain from there. Painful honestly the heat pretty bath while climbing. It climbed about 40 minutes. Sculptures floating at the bottom of the water was the beginning of the rainy season, so mysterious and visit. May had climbed off the feeling, but on this trip, 1, mesmerizing as vying for second place. Guide me and showed the local people when I was taking the pictures alone because it does not have the. (Asked for chips, were guided in the minor places like cannot find were noticed, but by themselves results is very good), be sure visit again. It was a place with magical powers or something.

  • Would have been great if not because of the murky waters. The journey was very long and tiring . The sad part was to find that due to the rain, we could hardly see anything  more »

  • Small water stream flowing through the jungle, scattered sculptures in the region. You can walk down the stream to see more of them, tourists usually stay on higher ground. Has a distant mystic charm about this place.
  • Holy waterfall on hilltop. It is one of the water source for Siem Reap River. Nice for trekking and pinicking. There are also carving of linga under the river bed.
  • A beautiful waterfall up the hill. You need to hike abourmt 45 min. to see the scenery. There are also many sculptures along the river. If you like to swim, don't forget bring your swimwear.
  • This place very cold to see waterfall and lots linga in river statues are beautiful under stone part of waterfalls
  • Good to walk in the jungle for a change and fascinating to see the carvings in the river bed.
