  • We stopped to see this bridge on the way to Siem Reap. The structure is very old but honestly, there is not much to see, good for a 5 minutes stop and a couple of pictures.  more »
  • In the context of a tour of Cambodia on the ride from the we stopped Kompong Gauda, about 50 km from Siem Reap the capital Phnom Penh to Siem Reap at Angkor on the National Highway No. 6 at the village, to see a national landmark. It is the Naga bridge (snakes) bridge, which is printed on the banknote 5,000 Riel. The steinernde bridge is located away from the road and is blocked since 2006 for the heavy traffic. It serves as a crossing of the river local pedestrians, bicycles or motorcycles are allowed but continue to use the bridge. We visited the approximately 1,000-year-old snake head bridge, which is also known as "Preah Tis", "Spean Praptos" or "Spean Preah Toeus" in the late afternoon. It was probably built in the 7th century by a Khmer King from stones and is regarded as the oldest and longest bridge of this type. Many more, but smaller, these bridges can be found in the area of Angkor. Amazing is surely how long this intact bridge has already held. At this time, little river and the bridge was going on right. Near the bridge, there is a small kiosk and a small restaurant. The bridge is safe but worth a visit, but for me, it was not as interesting as the old temples of the Khmer.
