Eastern Mebon, Siem Reap
Categories: Ruins, Architectural Buildings, Tourist Spots
One of the best-preserved temples in the Angkor city and part of a World Heritage Site, Eastern Mebon attracts visitors with its well-preserved elephant statues and five cone-shaped pillars. Climb the four stairways guarded by the picturesque elephants and admire the stone carvings of verses from Hindu mythology and historical scripts. While the whole complex honors Shiva and the parents of the king Rajendravarman II, the small altars inside the pillars are dedicated to other Hindu deities. Along with the exquisite examples of architecture, the temple stands out for its use of red brick made from iron-rich clay. Put Eastern Mebon into our Siem Reap vacation builder and find out what's close by, where to stay, and where to head next.

Ecco un altro dei tempi tipici! Qui ci sono elefanti osannati per la loro importanza (come anche in Thailandia). Here's another typical times! Here are the elephants revered for their importance (as also in Thailand).show original
Интересный храм, по углам статуи слонов. Башни собраны из маленького красного кирпича, в отличие от остальных храмов. Достаточно крутые лестницы при подъеме наверх. Красивый храм.An interesting shrine, at the corners of the statues of elephants. Towers are assembled from a small red brick, unlike other temples. Fairly steep stairs climbing upwards. Beautiful temple.show original
We came here over 2 hours early because we heard sunset here is so mobbed. Sunset ended up being very underwhelming but this was still a nice structure to climb.
Our tour guide suggest us to see the sunset here as other more famous locations will be super crowded and you need to queue. Though the sunset here is not very impressive. It is however a good place to chill and relax while you are waiting for the sunset.
What can I say? We enjoyed all the temples, this was part of the large circuit.
Interesting but not that impressive for its sunset view.
One of the amazing temple in Angkor Temple Complex.
