Eastern Mebon, Siem Reap

4.4
One of the best-preserved temples in the Angkor city and part of a World Heritage Site, Eastern Mebon attracts visitors with its well-preserved elephant statues and five cone-shaped pillars. Climb the four stairways guarded by the picturesque elephants and admire the stone carvings of verses from Hindu mythology and historical scripts. While the whole complex honors Shiva and the parents of the king Rajendravarman II, the small altars inside the pillars are dedicated to other Hindu deities. Along with the exquisite examples of architecture, the temple stands out for its use of red brick made from iron-rich clay. • Dongmeiben-Dongmeiben (East Melbon) is built from a layered platform, she has a total of three platforms, of which the two-storey platform has pictographic stone carving, and the other platform for the placement of stone lions statue to do Guardian-like, the distance than the grain temple is not too far, the steps to be careful, if the fall can be extremely, we go out must be safe, Big Circle compared to small circle, play more simple, so this day will not be too tired, planned to go to Angkor Wat to see the sunset, but helpless cloudy, had to choose to go back to the hotel to sleep

  • Pretty magical temple and super hot in the middle of the day. Crazy to think it would have been on it's own island back when the reservoir was in full function. Quite different to the other temples when you come around the big circuit so make sure you stop and enjoy this one!
  • This temple is not so many tourist. I really like this one . Not so high. But the top one is beautiful.
  • Great place for photos and you can just feel the history and spirituality all around you.
  • One of the higher Temples in thé area and guarantee for a nice view around and watch the sunset. Rather calm as not so known and not so big. Watch thé lion sculptures.
  • This place is definitely one of the seven wonders of the world and other than the heat everything was amazing!
