Angkor National Museum, Siem Reap
(3.9/5 based on 1,800+ reviews on the web)
Inspect the cultural heritage of the Khmer Empire's golden era at Angkor National Museum. Opened in 2007, the museum houses a vast collection of relics that portray the ancient civilization's legends and art. The exterior may look a bit mall-like, but the museum's many galleries brim with splendor sure to impress hard-core history buffs. Inside the exhibit halls, you can examine informative displays about Angkor Wat, the rise of the Khmer Empire, and the influence of Buddhism on the local people. The museum prohibits photography and offers discounted tickets for the youngest visitors. • This museum displays correctly but still one can obsolete very beautiful collections, explanations of the various epochs of civilization Kmer and evolution of the performing arts are well done for my part I regret the total lack of explanation about the construction techniques used by this civilization to allow such incredible erections, how cut they stones , took them they, no jewels presented, why they were not? No explanation

  • The visit to the Angkor National Museum consider essential to learn more about the history of the Khemer people, their culture and thus close best circle before you visit the great temples of Angkor. I recommend visiting the Museum before visiting the temples of Angkor.
