Russian Market, Phnom Penh

3.1
#2 of 43 in Shopping in Phnom Penh
Indulge in a shopping frenzy at Russian Market, Phnom Penh’s large discount retail area. Countless stalls, small shops, and food outlets will make you dizzy as you browse through cotton and silk clothing items, multicolored trinkets, or handicrafts suspended from the ceiling. A variety of fresh seafood, produce and spices, and a wide selection of motorbike spare parts offer something for anyone’s taste. Referred to as Russian by foreigners because of the dominance of Soviets here in the 1980s, the market has since evolved into a truly global retail outlet. My girlfriend and I came here as tourists, and we had a bunch of fun on a rainy afternoon. We simply walked around, and we found a bunch of great deals. It's fun to walk around even if you don't buy a...  more »

A 'must see' but be prepared for some serious jostling and do try the local cuisine and sit with the locals in the market to eat. It's definitely an experience!  more »

Cool place. It was still a real working Asian Wet market when I was there in 2016. It's Getty and dirty. The smell isn't the best. But that's what a wet market is supposed to be. Bring your camera for extraordinary photo ops of real Cambodian culture. Wonderful!

Most foreigners call it Russian market. This is a local market and famous for souvenir and second hand clothes shopping to tourists as as local people. It's a bit pricey for most of things. If u a foreigner, I recommend u observing the price from local people or ask someone u know first before buying. Having said that, I don't mean everything. Please enjoy your shopping here. It's cheaper than the ones in big supper market though.

Best in PP. Proceeds actually go to good causes. Great selection of booths and items. Really nice people who want to help you - of course it's to make money, but at central market sometimes I feel like they don't want my business because I'm barang.

Also known as the "Russian Markets". Very tight spacing inside. Prices slightly lower than what you would see at "Central Markets". Not much electronic stuff here. Mainly clothes and small gift items.

I know it's hot inside but I can always find thing I need here which meet my expectations. Also, food sold here are delicious with reasonable prices. It's also strongly recommended for foreigners.
