Kep Beach, Kep

2.9
#4 of 6 in Beaches in Cambodia
Walk along the clear shallow waters and white sands of Kep Beach, a small beach only 1 km (0.6 mi) long surrounded by green forest. Local fruit and seafood markets line the shore, and remain infamous in this area-- Kep is well known for its crab markets-- so don't miss the chance to try Kep's blue crab. After relaxing on the beach, head to the various monuments found in the local vicinity. Despite the popularity of the beach with locals-- especially at the weekends-- take care when swimming here as many do not recommend it due to the impurities in the water which can make you sick. Try to avoid national holidays due to heavy crowds. Rentable chairs, ATM machines, and shower/hygiene facilities can all be found nearby. • Rather nice and pretty clean, beach level isn't very deep bottom water temperature is very nice for swimming, however, not much to see under water, normal for a sandy bottom. Many locals, it is rather the range of the Cambodian, and we find many shops and different vendors in roadsides, lots of world. You can also rent a small hammock in the shade sipping a beer. It's very nice.

  • The beach is not so long and the water is pretty cloudy. It's fun to stroll along the beach with your feet in the water and watch the world go by.

  • This is a normal regular small beach. Good for a short swim of soaking the sun if you are in the area. Plenty of bars and cafes around.  more »

  • Really nice little beach. Quiet and relaxing. Clean and fresh air and water. Really nice party if the country. I hope to return again soon 👍
  • Kep is a small sea-side resort that offers a variety of beach activities. Snorkelers can enjoy viewing the corals on the bottom of the shallow sea. Rabbit Island is a popular beach near Kep; conditions are rustic, however, with electricity being provided only a few hours in the evening. Most people visit the island on day trips. Kep was founded as a colonial retreat for the French elite in 1908 and the town is still full of ruined shells of old villas, destroyed in the Khmer Rouge days. Visitors can also take in panoramic ocean views at Kep National Park, visit a butterfly preserve or see how peppers are grown organically
  • Kep beach is only 20 minutes tuk tuk ride to the CAMBODIAN , Vietnamese border crossing , Kep being a sleepy seaside town , crystal clear water , rainforest ,and 35 minutes drive by tuk tuk to kampot a river town . Both places are beautiful . I'm an Australian guy now living in Phnom Penh Cambodia for 9 years ,I know my CAMBODIA like the Back of my by of my hand I'm also a free tour guide of Phnom Penh Cambodia and Kep and Kampot .
  • Spent a good few hours on this beautiful beach. Food is available, although pretty average but there are plenty of hammocks to relax in! Plenty of locals hang out here! Nice and clean today
  • Good views and beautiful sea. Clean and fresh air.

Where to stay in Kep

Kep has a set of accommodations to suit a range of budgets and styles. The area around the crab market has the greatest choice of options, with aged villas turned into guesthouses both luxury and standard, and resorts of bungalows and stand-alone villas. Some of the more budget-friendly resorts have bungalows with shared bathrooms and limited amenities, while the more luxurious resorts center on old French colonial villas and pack in extras, such as restaurants, pools, and spas. Follow the coastal road down to Kep Beach for the same accommodation types, but with fewer choices.
