Perched atop a hill looking over the Sanker River, Wat Banan Temple provides a secluded encounter with an ancient Angkor temple. Climb up nearly 400 steep cobbled steps, reaching five monumental towers consecrated as a Buddhist shrine, thought to have been built sometime between the 10th and 13th centuries. Search for the few remaining carvings, best preserved on the central tower, depicting female spirits of the clouds and praying figures. On reaching the bottom of the hill, numerous food and drinks vendors greet you with welcome refreshments. • Take your time, it's quite a climb, but it's worth it. The 5 temples at the top are really nice and there are some very impressive views to be had from the top.  more »
  • If you want to see millions of nocturnal bats leaving the cave at night this is the place for you! You can sit in the road and eat and drink from local restaurants while viewing the bat exodus  more »
  • Nothing extraordinary. It was part of our tour so we just visited it, we need to climb 350 steps to reach temple and there are various small temple buildings at the top.  more »

  • It’s great but maybe I already visited Angkor. So this temple is not attractive. Nice view and fresh air.
  • Good place to visit. Good location for visitors to visiting, taking pictures, with the good place, have many Temples.
  • Great temple to visit. But make sure your ready. 300 plus steps almost straight up!
  • If you've already been to Angkor, Banan temple won't impress you. It's nice enough, but not as grand as anything at Angkor. 350 steps to the top are tough in the heat. Watch out for the kids at the bottom, they were offering some sort of guessing game to "win more money" when one tried to reach into my pocket. The surrounding area was a minefield that has since been cleared.
  • I have like a regular family visit and climb up the small hill where an ancient temple ruined locates. Sort of a physical excercise for family competition which we enjoy.
