Battambang Bat Caves, Battambang

Watch as a steady stream of Asian wrinkle-lipped bats fly out of a hillside hole at Battambang Bat Caves, some 20 minutes from the city at Phnom Sampeau. As dusk falls every day at around 5 or 6 pm, thousands upon thousands of these nocturnal creatures leave their nests and pour out of the cave, reminiscent of a smoke column billowing up to the sky. It takes up to 40 minutes for all of the bats to exit, so you'll have plenty of time to take a good photo.
