4.5/5 based on 700+ reviews on the web
Explore the archaeological site of a medieval town at Tsarevets Fortress. The fortress served as the Second Bulgarian Empire's strongest bulwark from 1185 to 1393, housing the royal and patriarchal palaces. It includes the remains of more than 400 houses, at least 22 churches, four monasteries, craftspeople's workshops, gates, and towers. You can see the foundations of the royal palace from which 22 successive kings ruled Bulgaria. View the city from the front steps of the Patriarch's Complex, then stop by the execution rock, from which traitors were pushed into the Yantra River. You also can visit a modern reconstruction of the medieval tower where Latin Emperor Baldwin I of Constantinople met his death as a Bulgarian prisoner. Ask about guided tours. • Certainly on this Hill climb all the tourists trapped in Veliko Tarnovo place offers spectacular views of the city and surroundings. Ticket 6 Lev, incidentally on a family with an infant too 6. Unfortunately almost nothing except one of the restored Temple on top, with an unusual painting. Place of residence of the Bulgarian Kings and clergy, probably sometime happy eyes. You can even go upstairs with a baby, just need comfortable shoes. It is interesting to visit the light show, which takes place against the backdrop of the walls Carevica. For a fee you can watch and listen to the sound design. Or watch free from the site before Carevicem.
