  • I missed it for about 4 visits i Veliko Turnovo. It can't be described in words: view, narure, history, architecture, a.s.o....
  • Forty Martyrs Church was built in the 13th century. Known, first and foremost, the ancient columns, which left a Bulgarian inscriptions khans Krum and Omurtag, Tsar Ivan Asen II of Bulgaria. In addition, the Church buried the Kings Kaloyan and Ivan Asen II of Bulgaria, there are sarcophagi with land from burial places of other great rulers of Bulgaria, including founder State Khan Asparukh. Here also was proclaimed the independence of Bulgaria from the Ottoman Empire. Inside the Church is practically empty and very modest. According to legend, when it will be restored in its grandeur, reborn again the great Bulgaria. But, alas, no reconstruction has been held for many years.

  • Away from the Center, renovated, beautiful small church which can be worth the visit. Possibility to Park not far away.

  • A must see piece of Bulgarian history in Veliko Tarnovo and probably the only known burial site of a Bulgarian ruler.
  • pretty, but not much
  • History talks itself.
  • Lots of history there, too...
  • Visit required!
