  • It takes a minimum of 2 hours. We go from the Neolithic to the XIX (with icons). Treasures found in the Thracian, Greek, Roman, Byzantine tombs. Some explanations in English. Pictures banned (although they are permitted in the Museum of Nessebar). Guard chiournes to the lookout. Incentive to the forbidden fruit... This museum contains exceptional objects. TO see it.

  • One of the oldest gold treasures - 5000 years BC (6kilos) and many other very interesting things of this region
  • Very informative and interesting collection. There is no other way having in mind the richness of the area. It is however unfortunate how uninterested to promote the history and the museum are the people working there.
  • Great exhibits and great building. However it lacks a more modern museological approach. A modern guidebook in English would help.
  • A very nice museum. It's housed in a large building and the exhibit encompasses the entire building. Leave at least 90 minutes to see the entire thing. There are a number of interesting artifacts including the most famous: the earliest example of gold objects made by man. The exhibits start in the stone age and span the middle ages. The top floor is mostly 18th and 19th century icons. The cost is 10 leva per person, which is rather high by Bulgarian standards and, if you wish to take photos, there is an extra charge of 20 leva (that is outrageous considering all other museums let you take photos for free). The best archaeological museum in Bulgaria is in Sofia. The ones in Plovdiv and Burgas are all very good and all are probably better than this one but this still worth a visit.
  • Varna (old name Odesos) is a city with rich history, you can see incredible exhibits
