Aladzha Monastery is naturally carved from a vertical karst cliff surrounded by trees and bushes. The complex includes monks' cells, a refectory, kitchen, small cemetery church, crypt, and farm. Enter the chapel on the second level to explore partially ruined medieval frescoes from the 14th century. See the fragments of five monks' figures and the main mural depicting Jesus on a throne surrounded by flying angels. The monastery owes its name to these colorful murals, which are now almost destroyed. The Persian-Arabic word aladzha means motley. • The monastery hit the road to Varna. I wanted to see Bulgaria not only with a guide, but also yourself. So they took the machine at the box office and went on a journey. Aladja in Turkish — variegated, multi-coloured. Most likely it is named so because of the colorful frescoes in the Chapel, which looked especially vivid background bright limestone cliffs. Even with the 4 century lived in the catacombs of the Christian monks. And in the 12 century the monastery became the Rocky monastic dwelling. Now the monastery is not valid. Entrance fee-5 Leo. Directly across from the entrance is a small museum, which contains icons, household items, plan settlements comes a film about the life of the monks, plays soft music. If you go from the Museum to the left and down, get into the thickets of the Park, where many trees have plaques with names and a brief description. Track animals, some where stones, small stone staircase with steps. It is this track and leads to the catacombs, where hiding from persecution of monks. The catacombs caves represent three levels. You can be like at the entrance, but inside, you cannot get-everywhere grille. The walls are decorated with Ivy. It seems people were on site, and sometimes had the feeling that we are in a sort of backwoods and besides we don't have anyone. If the Museum go straight then balk at the high gray rock. This is the monastery. It consists of 2 tiers. Climb up and you can see it on a fairly steep stairs. Everywhere placards with inscriptions and pictures, that there was. Here and Kelly, and the Church and crypt. At the bottom of the box, stands where you can let down your little notes with requests and inscription to not blunt them in cracks in the rock, as it is destroyed because of this. On certain days here you can watch the show "sound and light". For these purposes the opposite cliffs are stands with seating. It was interesting. Not sorry spent time.

  • The monastery is unusual and therefore recommend to go there. I personally liked the feeling of being there and impressive landscaping monastery, all done very competently and efficiently, I think, when monks lived there everything was more ascetic. Rocky monastery and very small, but it is only when you realize you are climbing up, and when you stand at the bottom-the kind of mesmerizing.. Uniquely, enable it in the list of places to visit.

  • In general you can see it, if you do not mind to pay 30 BGN per taxi. The truth more than once will not want to go there. There are several interesting historical monuments, but the safety of their not very. Although the terrain is beautiful there.
