Ravadinovo Castle, Sozopol

4.1
#2 of 14 in Historic Sites in Burgas Province
Castle Tourist Spot
For a glimpse of what ancient castles must have looked like when they were new, visit Ravadinovo Castle. The castle is an extravagant combination of various architectural and decorative styles--though it is not historically authentic. Green ivy climbs the building's exterior and its tall steeples. Stroll outside alongside fountains, garden statues, and tiny bridges. Listen to the sounds of parrots talking, and watch peacocks displaying their plumage or swans floating on the lake. The castle features an art gallery, wine cellar, and several large halls. Make Ravadinovo Castle part of your personalized Sozopol itinerary using our Sozopol family vacation planner.

Where to stay in Sozopol

As a historical coastal town located partially on a curving peninsula, Sozopol offers an array of accommodations within easy walking distance of the ocean. Most of the larger upscale lodgings sit within the newer, inland part of town. Though these tend to be more expensive, they offer ameniteies like on-site pools and restaurants (and they're still close to both the beach and historical city core). Also check out the private villas and guesthouses scattered throughout the cobbled streets and winding alleys of the Old Town on the peninsula. They will put the town's ancient Greek, Roman, Byzantine, and Ottoman sites right on your doorstep.

  • We visited Castle Ravadinovo, which is not of historical value is a commercial project. When I saw the castle in the distance, I was rather skeptical.Thought that when we get there and pay for the entrance 5 € and in the end we will be disappointed. But it is not. The castle was really fabulous! The area of this complex is quite large, where there are many fountains, different sculptures, a church. There is a wine cellar with large royal tables, near them paintings that are all in the spiderweb (there you can also taste the wine and buy it).It is very atmospheric place and it is clear that the people who did this were really inspired by the idea and very much tried to implement it. And they did it very well. Unfortunately, the castle is still under construction inside. I recommend this place to visit, you will not regret it.
  • Good views and well maintained gardens wish it was possible to go inside the castle itself but overall very nice place. The horses and dogs don't look very well looked after unfortunately.
  • Amazing place! Totally worth experiencing. Done with so much care to every detail! Every member of the family enjoyed it!
  • A must see while visiting Sozopol. The castle area is suitable for family with kids and for taking photographs. Loved the attention to details, which was put into building the castle. Wherever one turns around, see endless beauty.
  • Lovely outing with the family. Beautiful castle and gardens. The cave is great. Prices are reasonable.
