Ravadinovo Castle, Sozopol

3.9
#1 of 7 in Historic Sites in Sozopol
For a glimpse of what ancient castles must have looked like when they were new, visit Ravadinovo Castle. The castle is an extravagant combination of various architectural and decorative styles--though it is not historically authentic. Green ivy climbs the building's exterior and its tall steeples. Stroll outside alongside fountains, garden statues, and tiny bridges. Listen to the sounds of parrots talking, and watch peacocks displaying their plumage or swans floating on the lake. The castle features an art gallery, wine cellar, and several large halls. Make Ravadinovo Castle part of your personalized Sozopol itinerary using our Sozopol vacation planner.

  • You can visit if the weather turned bad on the way to Burgas or back one hour is enough. Parking is abominable.

  • What do you if you made manageable, historically unbeleckt, say, but the teen character and - in what ways – to too much money has come? To build a castle under the motto "Kitsch as Kitsch can!" Since the whole thing in an otherwise barren landscape with pretty garden elements, of animals has been populated, embedded, it has even something pretty.

  • Limited wind in Ravadinovo is located 3 km from Sozopol. It was founded in 1996 and was the shooting ground for American film productions of "sleeping beauty". After the shooting, the Castle continued its development and further expansion. Parking at castle walls free and open "in the field". Entrance to the Castle lion 20. Children from 7 to 12 years -10 lion. Families with two children 2-1 child free (of any age). A group of 15 to 20 people -30% discount. Groups of more than 20 people receive 50% discount. When you log on you! photographs taken with the King of the Castle, you can redeem your photos in a souvenir frame for 8 lion or your photo-magnets on the fridge. Inside the castle itself did not go, but there are undertaking quests for groups (reservation in advance online or by phone), there are glass Studio and Photo Studio in retro outfits. In the castle there is a toilet fee 1 Royal Lion for convenience)). Around the Castle lies a vast park area with fountains gazebos, café, rental area horses, mini zoo and an art gallery and a wine cellar in the Dungeon. Ravadinovo favourite place for holding wedding ceremonies and photography. So wear their best outfits, charge the camera at 100 percent and go in search of stylish frames among fairy architecture and rich flora and fauna. To the left of the entrance is a wonderful Chinese garden with pond and fish, zhipopisnymi bridges and wooden carved lanterns. Behind him, a little to the right entrance to the listve0 hidden in a huge cave, 20 metre long oak table with enormous chairs, armor, paintings covered with cobwebs, flying under the arches of the swallows. Descending in the second room of the Dungeon, you will see the digustacionnuju rack with Bulgarian wines whose label depicts a Castle of the wind. Coming out of the Dungeon and passing a few meters on the right you will find yourself on a circular platform with ...

  • *sarcasm on* This was the most fabulous castle I have ever visited. It gives you a proper medieval atmosphere and you can really feel it's age and historical value. *sarcasm off* Now for real. If Disneyland went bankrupt a few months before opening it's first park, you would have something like Ravadinovo, but probably better. It's artificially made and not all that well. Most things are not finished, like the inside (the most interesting god damn part!). We only entered because we drove out there all the way and the guy gave us the tickets at half price (because we were hesitant to go in), which is still too much, given the fact that you're basically visiting a building site. To be fair, when it's finished, it's probably going to be a cool theme park kinda thing. Until then, not worth while. Which brings me to my last point. I got the impression that they try to fund this thing by tricking tourists into paying for a half finished attraction, somewhat if they ran out of money and are trying to pull a dead horse. *drops mic*
  • It is a fairy tale like castle. Very nicely decorated. You can find a lot of amazing things. I think one should be able to enter the castle itself too not only the park! Recommended!
  • Artificial yet beautiful place. A lot of places were you can take a look and take pictures. Nice gardens, beautiful landscaping. Fairy-tale atmosphere. A little more expensive though.
  • What an awful place, artificial, over the top, expensive no historical value. If i knew that there is no history connected to this place I would not even go there. It’s attraction, theme park and you don’t put this place in in the list of the most incredible places in Bulgaria. Bulgaria is beautiful country with rich history and more things to see than this horrendous structure. I don’t even want to put one star but unfortunately is not possible otherwise I can’t write my experience.
  • The place is looks good. But the castle itself isn't finished yet. A big part of the place is under construction. The design is poor, too many cheap details. Not much to do there. The garden is great though.

Where to stay in Sozopol

As a historical coastal town located partially on a curving peninsula, Sozopol offers an array of accommodations within easy walking distance of the ocean. Most of the larger upscale lodgings sit within the newer, inland part of town. Though these tend to be more expensive, they offer ameniteies like on-site pools and restaurants (and they're still close to both the beach and historical city core). Also check out the private villas and guesthouses scattered throughout the cobbled streets and winding alleys of the Old Town on the peninsula. They will put the town's ancient Greek, Roman, Byzantine, and Ottoman sites right on your doorstep.
