  • The Sofia zoo is not very accessible unless you have a car. The nearest metro stop is a 40 minute walk thorugh the woods of Lozenets away. Staff is nowhere to be seen, most of the food and drinks...  more »

  • A great day out for families. Although building work is currently taking place and there is work to be done, there are plenty of animals to see. The black and brown bears were a particular highlight along with the tigers and lions. There are plenty of kiosks to buy snacks and cold drinks. Lots of shaded areas to sit and enjoy a packed lunch. Toilets available on both sides of the zoo which are kept clean. Information about the animals is also written in English which is handy and you are provided with a map on entry. A lovely day out.
  • You can enjoy a beautiful day at the Sofia Zoo. There is a variety of animals classified by species. The staff is friendly and you will be able to get some water, snacks, candies or ice cream from the booths all around the zoo. The downsides are related to the animals’ habitat. It is not clean all the time. I would advise you to see the alpakas (photos below), the different monkey species and the elephant.
  • The zoo is on a large and beautiful piece of land that has been landscaped well with lots of places to rest, shady areas, two playgrounds and more. Given the little budget that the zoo has, the selection of animals is very decent. The bears looked well taken care of, the big cats as well except for the tiger. I would recommend this place for an afternoon with children away from the noise and polluted air of Sofia.
  • Great place to have a walk with kids and friends. A lot of beautiful animals of almost every kind. You can have a coffee or hot dog, ice-cream or tea. I advise you to visit it.
  • I was left very pleased by our visit at the zoo this weekend. We were surprised that there was no entrance fee, but more important we were there at 10 o'clock and managed to find parking lot and the animles were not yet tired, so we saw all of them that we planed with our 2 years old and the baby. So I would recommand you go early and enjoy your stay as we did.
