  • An authentic flavor market. If you fancy a dip in the scents and flavors of Bulgaria and especially in Sofia, you should definitely come here. An area dedicated to food and typical objects (real ones) no frills and unpretentious. You will find plenty of street food, seafood, spices, flowers and local objects like pottery made by a historic family devoted to the art of clay cooking for decades (not the usual souvenirs made in China). A very charming place that must be uncovered carefully.

  • The so-called "women's Bazaar" is considered the biggest market in Sofia. Consists of two parallel running tracks: on one sell mainly vegetables, fruits, cheeses, meats, and other foods, on the second-clothes, shoes, souvenirs and various junk. Very noisy and crowded. Local color is unfortunately not felt. A large crowd and not comfortable.

  • Very colorful and popular market in a working-class neighborhood. The framework is less sparkly than on the side of Vitosha. Small craft local honey, carpets, pottery, but especially of surprising vegetables. Leeks to a meter, of enormous turnips and pink tomatoes... Most shopkeepers accept that we photograph their colorful stalls (it is best to ask permission before to have a smile as a bonus). At the north end restaurant snack bar with a large terrace overlooking a square where the neighborhood's young children Frolic. You can eat a few simple and cheap dishes in a very clean environment.

  • Very fresh to be amongst the vegetables. Beware of pickpocketing gypsies
  • Nice place with small shops and a lot of booths. Local dishes, fruits, vegetables and some souvenirs shops. Clean and nice (more locals than tourists). I do recommend to buy and eat there Banitsa and to drink the famous Buza (special yogurt).
  • You can buy fresh fruits and vegetables. Keep your valuables close and look around for pickpocketing. Most of weight scales do not measure correctly.
  • One of Sofia's traditional landmark open air markets. Much better now after a major renovation in 2015. Offers agricultural produce along with other goods as well as a couple of eating and drinking places.
