4.1/5 based on 75+ reviews on the web
Reputed to be the largest of its kind in the Balkans, National Museum of Natural History holds a substantial collection of preserved animals, minerals, and scientific information. The collection consists of over 400 mammals, 1,200 bird species, and hundreds of thousands of invertebrates. In addition, it preserves samples of nearly one-quarter of all known mineral species. Here you can see a bear standing on two legs and a tiger roaring. Observe numerous fossils and read information about each specimen. Walk around 15 halls spread throughout four floors, and explore nature up close. To avoid heavy traffic in the area, use public transportation to get here. • A really good experience, suitable for families, couples and children. Four stories rich in fossils, mammals and stuffed animals. The cost of admission is 4 lev equal to 2 euros. A place of passage for Alexander, then almost obligatory for a tour in the city

  • It is the oldest natural history museum in the Balkans and has a vast collection of animals. The guard of the Museum told us they are real animals, but we are still skeptical about this information. The Museum has three floors and a good 70% is occupied by reproductions of animals or stuffed animals. The most interesting part, though, is undoubtedly the one dedicated to insects: an entire room has at least a dozen cases in which stand out hundreds of insects of all kinds, sizes and features. The Museum shop is very disappointing, doesn't sell anything peculiar.

  • I went to this museum and found that I was the only one there. The exhibits were not kept in the best shape i.e. dusty. The museum as a whole was interesting though. I would say it was worth the visit...  read more »
  • If you want to see a rock from the moon this is the place. A great selection of minerals and precious stones with detailed description about their properties: in particular what are they build from and under what circumstances do they develop in the nature. The museum is old, though good maintained. Some of the artefacts are missing English description. Perfect for children interested in nature. Hint: sometimes in the weekend there are workshops for children (>6 years) on different themes: space, nature, etc.
  • Went there with my girlfriend, amazing exponents. Great for taking your children.Stuffed animals and lots of minerals to see.Too bad they removed the live animals.
  • Great museum, full of interesting exhibits🐞🐞🐞
  • Ok for killing a little time with the kids
  • It's super museum, you will need minimum an hour to only look through
