At National Institute of Archaeology with Museum, see tombstones, statues of idols, ceramics, and other artifacts that were found along the shores of the Black and Aegean seas. The museum's headquarters is in a former 15th-century mosque. At the main entrance, see the full-size copy of the 23 m (75 ft) high Madara Horseman, a medieval rock relief. The exhibits in the main hall feature finds from the late Bronze Age through the late Middle Ages. You can examine tools, figures made of clay and bone, and ceramic models of residential buildings and ovens in the prehistory hall. Don't miss the Roman and Greek portrait statues and a rich collection of paintings from the Bulgarian Middle Ages. • archéologue-y is not my passion however this small museum offers a good quality of various art incl some icons
  • A museum full of history, from prehistory up to more recent times, many objects worth seeing, I enjoyed the funerary masks

  • Located in the heart of the city, ticket price 10 BGN, several exhibits, is not big so and won't strain. Definitely worth a visit since I find many Greek artifacts
