Plovdiv Old Town, Plovdiv
(4.6/5 based on 800+ reviews on the web)
See a variety of archaeological relics from the Thracian, Roman, and medieval eras at Plovdiv Old Town, one of the oldest European towns. The history of the City of the Seven Hills spans 6,000 years. Visit one of many ruins preserved from antiquity, such as the Roman theater, odeon, stadium, and the archaeological complex Eirene. Bulgarian master builders erected the National Revival town of Plovdiv--or the Old Town--in the 19th century. Walk down the steep cobbled lanes alongside houses with large bay windows and slender columns, latticed eaves, oak gates, green yards, and marble fountains. Other notable sights include art galleries, churches, and a street of folk arts and crafts. A visit to Plovdiv Old Town represents just the start of the adventure when you use our Plovdiv trip itinerary maker to plot your vacation.

  • Go tjere, get lost on the narrow streets and enjoy it! Be careful with the floor, make sure to use confortable shoes and no high heels. It can be a nightmare to walk around here with high heels
  • Had a visit here from Sofia, quite a journey but well worth the visit. Stick to the bus, it's two hours direct though it does drop you in the new town which is about a mile from the old town; the trai...  more »
  • A visit to the old city, deserves to be programmed. Find a guide who speaks Italian is not difficult if done in time, the expense is minimal even for a household. Plovdiv is very pretty and more glamorous than Sòfia as best preserves vestiges of the past (Sofia was practically razed to the ground in the second war). You can visit this town, the Old Town will keep you busy for a couple of hours but he shall do it.

  • Hi I would like to share with you our experiences which we did at our wedding in old town Residence in the old town of Plovdiv (Abosede Restaurant first (Petr 1)). I want to complain about the treatment we received by customers and to give an assessment of the restornta and the hotel part of the complex. The services of servitiorite at the time of the wedding was not the most polite. Especially his arrogance and rude nâk″k is the Manager of the restaurant was showing (not the owner). The high prices of the restaurant seem to be based only on the location in the old town, and not the obslužvnae politely. On the hotel, the rooms were well decorated and clean. But their prices it would be outrageous if you don't. After the wedding the next day the owner send the maid to check the rooms before we and our guests are packed if I broke something. For the transfer of the keys had no goddamn formal politeness. There was no nik″kvo coverage of the claims of the restaurant for more than others. If we could turn back time, and never to think about celebrating whatever it is out there. So our estimate of the location for the wedding party there is negative. Mobility and accessibility are another big flaw in the old city, where the forbidden entry. The disadvantages associated with it, that every entry should explain to the guards, where are you going, taxis do not want to be picked up in kaldar″ma in the old town or if you come with your own car feeling that will fall apart in a bad way. The romance of the old city can turn into a nightmare for the movement.
