Chiesa della Nativita, Arbanasi

Categories: Churches, Tourist Spots
Inspirock Rating:
4.7/5 based on 95+ reviews on the web
Although the uncommon Chiesa della Nativita appears to be a simple house, it actually hides a church with lavish frescoes filling nearly the entire surface of the interior walls. During the Ottoman occupation, it was forbidden to build churches that exceeded heights of houses. So, the Christian community built this monument in the 16th century featuring very modest shapes and facade. Outside, you may not differentiate it from a horse stable. But inside you'll discover a wealth of Biblical motifs, including 4,000 frescoes that depict lives of Christ, the Virgin Mary, and various saints. A visit to Chiesa della Nativita represents just the start of the adventure when you use our Arbanasi family vacation planner to plot your vacation.

  • Among more than a dozen of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church that we were watching this definitely hits a very unusual architectural layout (which for the first time makes it difficult to find ...), and a huge number of well-preserved frescoes, lovers of this painting have to book a lot of time on the track. It is worth mentioning that for people who are planning to visit in addition to Veliko Tarnovo, that you can buy a combined ticket for monuments in Arbanasi and Tarnovo. Unfortunately not be photographed.
