Erected to celebrate the Sultan of Brunei's 60th birthday, Mercu Dirgahayu 60 depicts the number 60 in Arabic. The monument, a gift from the people of Brunei to their leader, shows their gratitude, affection, and loyalty. The golden main structure faces upward to signify His Majesty's wisdom and charisma in striving to achieve prosperity, peace, and progress for his country. You'll find a nice photo opportunity facing the waterfront, with shops and restaurants close by. The area provides a pleasant environment to catch your breath in the afternoon/evening after the heat has subsided.
