See how rum is produced in a traditional, sustainable, and natural way at Callwood Distillery, housed within a 400-year-old stone building peeking through sugarcane bushes. Enter the dusty, dim distillery to see old bottles hanging from the walls and examine oak barrels responsible for the rum's distinct flavor and color. Taste or buy some sugarcane rum, or ask the owner to show you how this liquor is boiled and fermented in outdoor stills. Callwood Distillery Reviews
-
We had 4 different shots of rum for $1 and ended up buying 2 bottles. We stopped off on a taxi tour here. more »

This is the oldest working distillery (rum) in the world. Well worth a stop. A few dollars gets you a tour and a tasting of the different rums, from very strong, to easy drinking. more »

take a look back in time and see how rum has been made on Tortola for centuries. Doesn't cost much and nothing wrong with tasting rum. Four shots for a dollar makes it inexpensive. Check it out if you... more »

On a recent trip to visit Tortola in the British Virgin Islands we made our way to a quiet beach with a local-vibe on the northwest side of the small island - Cane Garden Bay Beach. Just south on Route 1 from the beach is a rum distillery with big time word-of-mouth, some great history, and not much else. This may be the smallest distillery of any kind I have ever seen. It’s history dates back to the late 1800s and the facility certainly looks like it. They have been producing 1800s-style rum for over 100 years and offer tourist groups a sampling of 4 different rums for a mere $1. Naturally, most everyone visiting is a tourist and takes them up on this offer. Nice pit stop during your stay on the island, but don’t go too out of your way.

Pretty interesting place. They take you on a tour. And not only is their rum good - it's inexpensive too!
-
Great little place to check out if you are at the nearby beach.
-
Ready to return just for the rum. The best.
