Copper Mine Point, Spanish Town

#6 of 14 in Sightseeing in British Virgin Islands
Tourist Spot Mine
Stop at Copper Mine Point while touring Virgin Gorda island to immerse yourself in a fascinating historical site. Abandoned and left to ruin in the 1800s, the mine was used by British miners, and the fruits of their labour would be transported by boat all the way to Wales. Be sure to bring your camera, as the site affords beautiful views of the ocean. There is little information available onsite, so it’s worth researching the mine's interesting history before you go. • on an island with view attractions (which is ok) this is one of the better ones but as a photographer that shoots abandoned sites it's two buildings are limited from a photo standpoint.
  • Really interesting place; you can see the old copper mine that looks like a one room castle, and if you want to go off road you can get to the ocean and see old patterned rocks that looks like they've been cut into grooves.
