  • Close to the Centre of Victory, there is the Solar Museum in Jucutuquara Monjardim, formerly home to a farm, pure story today.

  • Solar Monjardim, in Jucutuquara, is the seat of the Museum of the same name, the most important of the State in the Federal University of Espírito Santo. Is probably the oldest private rural construction of the colonial period. It was built as the seat of the Jucutuquara farm and was the property of the priests of the society of Jesus. With the expulsion of these, was acquired by Gonçalo Pereira Pinto merchant. The farm was going to the Hill of Espírito Santo to the tip, to produce cassava flour and, later, coffee.

  • The MonJardim Family Ranch included 1000's of acres devoted to production of coffee, cotton, produce, cattle and other profitable commodities. But what made this Family powerful in the development of Vitoria and the State of Espirito Santos was their personal relationship with the Portuguese Crown and Emperor Peter, himself. The main Family residence, constructed over 2 decades (1781-1805) is in extremely good condition for it's age occupied by many original furnishings. Members of the Family occupied the home until 1940 before relinquishing it's care and maintenance to state control as a living museum.
  • This is a well-preserved old house once home to the influential Montjardim family. It has a fascinating history and contains many artefacts which give an insight into what it must have been like to live there in the days when there were no other buildings in the vicinity.
  • A good place to visit.
  • 😄😄😄
  • For who loves the history and the 18TH century mansions is a good appetizer. The furniture and fixtures in your most are not the family Monjardim and Yes to portray the environment of the houses of the time. Due to the green area there are many mosquitoes, I advise you take insect repellent.

Where to stay in Vitoria

The two main neighborhoods to stay in when exploring Vitoria are Praia do Canto and the area close to Parque Moscoco. Hotels dominate the selection here, with simple rooms in chain and independent lodgings, alongside luxury options. Budget-conscious travelers will find side street hostels appealing, as well as the more basic among the collection of pousadas (guesthouses) in the city. Stay closer to the airport, or the main bridges leading off the island, if you wish to get out of town on a regular basis to explore other areas of the state.
