  • Visit Itaparica in eco mode is difficult. We made the crossing (they call it), widely used by local transport. Starting with the crossing, the vessel was mega crowded (we were standing), and certainly no life vest. Almost 30 minutes if I'm not mistaken, didn't make out much the traversal by discomfort. But the worst is the landing at Vera Cruz. Anchorage dirty, messy, cab, van, tents and stalls. On the right (who look to the island), we walked to a little square, but quit to continue because of the stench from the sewage dumped into the sea and dirt between the rocks and the sea. On the left, some kiosks. We were well attended one of them, and the snacks were reasonable. But the music was bad and the place to shower too. We decided to go to Itaparica. Then we discovered the mess that is the public transport due to the absence of government regulations. There's no sign, there's no information, all cry. The tourist is at the mercy of profiteers and picks (not everyone, of course, but at this point how to separate the wheat from the chaff). I think at the end we were lucky to catch a cab driver who at least has in seeing us and leave us a slightly better printing of Itaparica. We explained about the beaches and indicated the Ponta da Areia, where took us by 30 reais. Exactly when the bar where he left closed, he called for us. We wanted to go back to ferry-boat to see how it was, but we think risky having to wait too long and got back from catamaran, this time even less crowded. We just enjoying a little of the Itaparica, but out of our expectation. Probably won't go back there anymore.
