Morro da Igreja, Urubici

4.8
#1 of 12 in Things to do in Urubici
View a spectacular mountain range covered in lush green and savage cliffs. From an elevation of 1,800 m (5,906 ft), you will see the entire valley of gorges and the natural arch that balances on a small plateau. The lookout is located on private property so you'll pay a small fee when you arrive by car, but it's well worth the price for the eye candy view. Bring a coat, as Morro da Igreja is the coldest place in the country with temperatures sometimes reaching -17 C (1 F). • The Hill of the Church is a triple border that belongs to three municipalities Bom Jardim da Serra, Urubici and Orleans. Is the highest point in the State of SC and a must-see. A permit is required to visit.

  • Don't leave Urubici without knowing the Morro da Igreja. Need to get authorization in the Centre of Urubici near the Bank of Brazil. The cold is intense and gusty. But vista is stunning and worth every minute there.

  • Stunning location, with the open time we can have a divine vision of serra catarinense, just a dream, the access is good despite some excerpts with some holes, but it's worth it for the scenario, don't forget to Deauthorize in Central Urubici in order to get to the top of the mountain, fantastic, and you still goes through an Apple Orchard.

  • Awesome views of the Serra Geral range. At 6,007 ft, it is the highest point around. Site of the Pedra Furada rock. Access requires a permit available from the Parque Nacional de São Joaquim, at nearby Urubici SC. The office is open regular standard hours.

  • Great place if you like landscapes, the access is all paved with some holes and well signposted, recommend taking shirt off even in summer, the wind is cold even at this time mainly at the beginning of the day to climb it is necessary to get authorization in the ICMBio in Urubici.

  • Undeniably, the Hill of the Church is one of the largest postcards from Serra Catarinense. And did you know that it is exactly here that the measurement of temperature-the one you see in the news associated with the gelidamente negative numbers! It's made right here on this site? The first thing you have to know is to climb the Hill, you will need to stop by at the ICMBio in Urubici to get your permission of ascent. Depending on the time you go (holidays, high season), anticipate by e-mail, because there is a pretty strict limit of authorized vehicles per day. And if you think this is you better come up with a lowly Hill a charming traditional small church on top, you are totally wrong! The Hill is huge (more like a mountain!) and the road is about 18 kilometers long. When you find that you're coming, you can bet that it is still not even halfway through. 😵 But go ahead ... fuel and patience will be worth! And not ... There is no church at the top ... ⛪ The Hill takes its name because viewed from any angle, it has a format that resembles a Jesuit missionary Church. The road is good, but somewhat devious. Is paved in concrete, although in some excerpts contain substantial holes in the runway. In general it is quite safe, without those thrilling chasms that you force him to defy death! 😁 There for half of the climb you will need to submit your authorization to a guard, and in this place there might be queue, since the guards monitor the amount of vehicles that are at the top, releasing the rise only when a car down. That's because the upstairs parking places are well constrained. Anyway ... Once your ascent was allowed, the guard recommends a period of visit of up to 20 minutes, although there is some control in place. But this is a very plausible and enough for you to enjoy the entire look, take lots of pictures and then down into the little fella who's there in the queue just waiting for you! 😁 Now, attention: at any given time, you'll come across the entrance to the Air Force Base and see a sign that you will put a question mark on the head: "Property of the Union Command of Aeronautics: MILITARY AREA-DO NOT ENTER". The first time I went, I was fine with that information, but Cabrera we decided to go ahead and run the risk of being arrested for trespassing. But there's no pet peeve! Can follow without fear that the passage at this point is permitted (if the gate is open, of course!). Once upstairs, the Pedra Furada dispute attention-or rather, make up the landscape of the abundant nature of the place. Is a visual overwhelming! The Pedra Furada is almost the symbol of the city. It is a natural rock formation with about of 10 meters in diameter and the height of the hole is 5 metres. You can get there close, but that requires an authorization of Aeronautics, the accompaniment of a guide, and of course an excellent fitness to do the trail which is considered pretty heavy. Already I've settled in just see it from the top of the Hill! 😜 may be you get too much wind and fog up there and with that, you can't see much. I didn't get the time completely closed 🙏, but had a day that I felt literally "in the clouds". Climbed a melting pot of "smoke" out there which did not allow us to see the skyline, but it still had a distinct beauty. It's even stranger to associate the UNITED KINGDOM the word ❉ ❉ SNOW! But when the phenomenon happens in the country, this is the place to be since the Hill of the Church has the largest snow record in the country. Therefore, if you are visiting the mountain during the winter, so stay tuned for those colder days: the road may contain frost or snow, leaving the track very slippery to a level that nobody here is used. --> Hey!
