Toninhas Beach, Ubatuba

4.2
#5 of 71 in Outdoors in Ubatuba
Although an urban beach, Toninhas Beach does not look it, as it is surrounded by trees instead of busy roads and buildings. An excellent beach for both swimmers and surfers, you will find the latter congregate towards the left-hand side of the beach, so there is plenty of space for everyone. Just off the waterfront, you will find a wide selection of food options, from simple kiosks to restaurants offering seafood, naturally, as well as various international cuisines. ABOUT the city of UBATUBA: the city itself is ugly urbanistically, (don't go there thinking you will find a Paradise City, forget it!). We were even more disappointed because what "filled" in the city for us, it was no joke, no! Of course you want to enjoy the Beach coastline, sea etc; but the city is important and should be part of the roadmap. Culturally speaking is of paramount importance. I don't know if it's a problem of management publishes, but the Ubatuba I met you a mixture of: Syria (rubble and demolition) with Jungle Pantanal (high Bush). Appearance of unkempt, decadent, with a visual overshadowed by bad environmental preservation and urban planning. Many streets without asphalt (in many, even those stones had colonial). In good part, dirt. Another thing, where is the lights of the city??? Or in places of large agglomerations of people, like Central, do not have. The continuous range of the stop in both directions of the crossing, which causes confusion in traffic and according to reports, many beats of rent in high season. PS: far from being a municipality estancia balnearia, as call themselves. The trade: Warn about the price of things. The price of food products there is also indigestible. Ex: chocolate box Nestle 12.99 Specialties, wafer filled 4.99, 6.99 in my town/2.00 respectively. Only for comparative purposes. Alternative? Buy what you think is needed in your city before you go. The retail trade is diversified. The city has many restaurants, pizzerias, shops and markets casual utensils. Are well equipped at this point. MEDICAL NEEDS: If you need urgent medical care, Only Santa Casa. That's right, ONLY Santa Casa ... You have convenio doctor? Will have to go to Caraguatatuba, nearby town 30 minute track with good traffic. (information collected with relatives who live there for 2 years) The Aquarium of UBATUBA: price: 60.00 30.00 per adult per child. Here, I will use maxim: "If I can't praise, I'm not going to criticize!" Imagine a physical space of 200 square meters and full of breakdowns (water tanks). It's pretty clean and distributed. Has a 2.5 m shark which is swimming in a circle in a tank because there's nowhere to go, well out of proportion. Have penguins too. A good cultural tour, especially for children. TAMAR PROJECT: * Not visited about the beaches are very clean with nice landscapes. Looks like another nuance of the city, just beautiful pictures. The of Porpoises, in particular, where the Afpesp and where I got more ... seemed pretty quiet and familiar. I don't know in the high season, but the breadth of the horizon and the waves is pretty inviting. Worth knowing.

The beach is good, with a lot of movement even during low season. However, the sea is a little dangerous because it has a long sand bank, for those who like to venture to the bottom doesn't pay as there are many saved lives that don't leave the swimmer past the third waves. But it's great for family, the kids have fun in the shallows and adults too. For surfers, has great waves at all times of the day. At dusk at the time of the full moon is a spectacle. Beautiful of all the sea.

Extensive Beach, with soft sand and white sea with waves but not very strong, clear, lively and with several kiosks. In the high season, as in every beach is hard to park.

Where to stay in Ubatuba

Ubatuba's accommodations mainly stick close to the water, where major hotels along coastal roads offer both simple and luxurious rooms, with or without a view. Budget-conscious travelers may wish to explore the more humble pousadas (guesthouses) of the town, with a good choice throughout, coming down in price as you move away from the water. Consider an apartment rental for longer stays; or, if you're anxious to get out into the national park and mountainous areas of the municipality, try the campsites on the outskirts of town.
