Ilha dos Lobos, Torres

#6 of 15 in Wildlife Areas in State of Rio Grande do Sul
Island Wildlife Area
Little more than a slab of rock, barely raised out of the sea, Ilha dos Lobos's attraction is the colony of sea lions that make it their home--the only place they can be found in Brazil at certain times of the year. Boat trips to the island allow you to get a close up view of the sea lions, should you brave the choppy seas, and looking back to the mainland you have an unrivalled view of the Torres cityscape. Where to stay in Torres

Much of Torres' lodging comes in the form of midsize hotels occupying rather uninspiring apartment block-style buildings, though this offers you solid access to the waterfront. You'll find a cluster of these hotels a few blocks back from the beach at the base of Avenida Barao do Rio Branco. As you might expect, waterfront accommodations tend to charge more for their rooms with ocean views, so consider requesting a room facing away from the sea in order to go a little easier on your wallet. Keep in mind that during the summer months (December to March) prices for all accommodations in and around town rise in accordance with the crowds. Likewise, you'll find better deals and more budget-friendly options during the off-season (May to November).

  • This island is a place preserved for environmental conservation where families of sea lions. Boat only access and can only get around on condition of tourist and summer. Head back to the city of Torres in Rio Grande do Sul. As tourist spot anything interesting in my view, since I barely can see the animals on the distance that needs to maintain the site.
