Sao Jose Fountain, Tiradentes

3.6
Dating from 1749, Sao Jose Fountain this attractive colonial fountain is all the more picturesque thanks to its pleasant wooded surroundings. With its stone cross, Portuguese coat of arms and statue of St. Joseph, the fountain bears a striking resemblance to the facade of a church. The three separate water spouts are for humans, animals and clothes washing, and the water is supplied by a slave-built aqueduct from 1 km (0.6 mi) away. The fountain is still in use today, so feel free to quench your thirst whilst you are there. Great place to stop and rest of walk through the alleys of Tiradentes. The day we were there there was even a photographer engaged in place, it was pretty fun. Recommend.

I was at a time when water shortages. The 3 sources were not spouting water. Only the Middle source dripped a bit. But it's pretty cool. We had a good explanation, which made it more interesting to the visitation of the fountain

It is a historical point for you come look and leave. Now, for anyone who's a poet or writer the place is inspiring. The downside are the cars that insist on passing nearby and should be banned.

It's a very cool place, but very badly maintained. In fact, like many other parts of the city. Worth the visit.

Worth a visit for the architecture in the form of Church and the story behind the founding of cidafe. It was recently restored. The water comes through a channel behind the stone fountain with a length of one kilometer until the spring in the Woods Mother of water which can also be visited.

Where to stay in Tiradentes

For an atmospheric stay among the Baroque architecture, consider staying in the center of Tiradentes. Prices inflate greatly on weekends, and in the accommodations directly next to the historical area. Charming pousadas (guesthouses) and small hotels make up most of the selection in town, though budget rooms in hostels can also be found if you don't mind staying a few streets from the major attractions. Out of town, you'll find a few more pousadas along the main roads leading out to the south, east, and west, as well as rental apartments and campsites.
