#2 of 9 in Museums in Tiradentes
Step into the sacred when you visit Museu da Liturgia, the only museum in Latin America dedicated to the celebration of the intense religious devotion of the city and region. A fantastic combination of the traditional among modern elements, this museum is not only for religious folks, rather a unique attraction located within the surrounding hills. Over 420 sacred pieces from the eighteenth to the twentieth centuries are on display along with a collection of silver and other artifacts from the churches of the town.

The space inside is divided into various rooms: The Liturgy of the Word Room, Eucharist and Easter Room, Popular Devotion Room, Sacraments and Sacramentals Room. Utilize the multimedia resources and technology to learn about the traditions and history. Then step outside to the courtyard where you can take in the splendid views while having a moment of reflection. Breathe in the scents of the olfactory garden while listening to biblical passages or spiritual music. A visit to Museu da Liturgia represents just the start of the adventure when you use our Tiradentes attractions tool to plot your vacation.

  • The Museum of the liturgy was in retirement for a long time and both times earlier had not yet been reopened. This time it was to meet the Museum's collection. As the name says, this museum is dedicated to the liturgy, and there we have a little bit of everything that is used in Catholic masses. We have priests ' vestments, chalices, crosses, candlesticks etc. The entry was 10 reais and inside we have clean restrooms and a drinking fountain. To cap the visit, there is a dark room with the projection of some processions in cities of Minas Gerais. Recommend a visit.

  • Despite being located in the middle of Tiradentes (one of the most historic cities I know) the Museum has a relatively modern structure with some very interesting multimedia supports. I suggest you go with at least 1 hour in order to enjoy the many quality items exhibited in the Museum. It's not cheap but worth the investment.

  • 5 stars because this museum is fantastic! A little bit super cozy, modern and ancient, with a beautiful visual for serra. The collection is very interesting, being possible to understand better the purpose of apguns objects used in religious rites Catholics. In addition, as are parts of the historic mining Center is a real journey to the times of the gold exploration. So the Museum addresses the dynamic faith, religion, culture and history. Although not very large, perfectly fulfills the intended function. When I went (2015) the Museum was in perfect condition and had free musical performances weekly. I was very well attended at the reception and tour guide. Not to be missed.

Where to stay in Tiradentes

For an atmospheric stay among the Baroque architecture, consider staying in the center of Tiradentes. Prices inflate greatly on weekends, and in the accommodations directly next to the historical area. Charming pousadas (guesthouses) and small hotels make up most of the selection in town, though budget rooms in hostels can also be found if you don't mind staying a few streets from the major attractions. Out of town, you'll find a few more pousadas along the main roads leading out to the south, east, and west, as well as rental apartments and campsites.
