Waterfalls · Zoos · Dams
A gateway to the world-renowned Iguacu Falls, which spectacularly divide Brazil and Argentina, the modern, high-rise city of Foz do Iguacu can't help but play second fiddle to the natural wonder in its vicinity. However, there's more to the city of 265,000 people than just the famous waterfalls. You'll find some fascinating attractions in Foz do Iguacu, including museums, nature parks, and even a Buddhist temple. Prepare for hot, humid, sunny weather as you explore the multicultural city's streets--the mercury commonly reaches 40 C (104 F) in summer, with little cloud cover for protection. Make Foz do Iguacu central to your Brazil travel plans using our Brazil trip builder app.

Where to stay in Foz do Iguacu

Given the one dominant attraction in Foz do Iguacu, it's not surprising that the vast majority of accommodations sit on the south side of town, on the way to the waterfalls. To get as close as possible to the falls, stay in the southern neighborhoods of Jardim Eldorado or Jardim Iguacu. Many of the hotels in those neighborhoods line Avenue das Cataratas, the road that leads all the way to the falls. To get a better feel for the rest of the city, stay in the city center or its next-door neighborhood, Vila Paraguaia. From your hotel near the Parana River, you'll enjoy views over the neighboring city of Ciudad del Este in Paraguay.
