Serra dos Orgaos National Park, Teresopolis

(4.6/5 based on 1,500+ reviews on the web)
Serra dos Orgaos National Park is one of the foremost centers of trekking, mountain climbing and rock climbing in Brazil. Whether you are a novice walker or a seasoned adventurer, the park has something to offer, with extensive trails throughout the region that can take anywhere from a few hours to several days. The park covers a 110 sq km (42 sq mi) area of forested mountains rising from 145 m (476 ft) at its lowest point to 2,263 m (7,425 ft) at its highest. The area is abundant in natural springs and the unusual name--"Organ Mountains"--is believed to have come from early Portuguese settlers who thought that the rocky peaks of the mountain range resembled church organs. The most famous of these formations is the Dedo de Deus (God's Finger) rock, which resembles a left hand pointing towards the sky. It is 1,692 m (5,551 ft) high and can be seen in the background of the flag of the Rio de Janeiro state. A visit to Serra dos Orgaos National Park represents just the start of the adventure when you use our Teresopolis trip builder to plot your vacation.

  • I went in July 2016 with a couple of friends to make the Bell stone trails. The trail itself is quiet, most of it is covered by the tops of trees. I paid 15 reais in the parking lot, and headed up to the stone of the Bell. The place pretty ´, with a beautiful view of the entire region. We did back in the day, which was a little pulled. But thanks a lot!

  • Park with excellent infrastructure: parking, toilets, swimming pool with natural water, flagged trails, space for snacks, cafeteria and snack bar. Place to spend the day (of the 17 8) with his family in contact with nature.
