Praia dos Carneiros, Tamandare

Must see · Beach · Nature / Park
The island of Praia dos Carneiros is famous for its soft, white sandy beaches, natural pools, and for its dozens of shipwrecks that attract snorkelers and divers. You can get to the island dotted with coconut trees by chartering a catamaran, or by driving--but be warned that the island beach is somewhat private so in order to access it you may have to stay at one of the resorts, hotels, or Pousadas (B&B), or you can dine at one of the restaurants for access. • Praia dos Carneiros is a paradise. It looks like Caribbean Beach. There is an old church built centuries ago that makes the landscape more interesting. There are restaurants and boat tour available...  more »

  • If you are looking for a desert beach to relax, sipping a cold beer and a typical Brazilian sea gastronomy, this is a must in terms of travel. There you can relax in cozy hammocks or beach chairs, plus take a ride in Catamarãs, which are boats that sailing through the sea, visiting the most exotic places nearby Carneiros beach and are provided with bar and music on board. Furthermore, you can jump into the sea in a few points of the ride as well as walk where once it was the ocean, when the low tide. I recommend for both kids and elderly people, there is car parking or, if you prefer, there are tours available in Porto de Galinhas. Enjoy.
  • Wonderful beach! Definitely worth a visit.
  • Carneiros Beach or Sheep Beach is a still an almost-deserted beach, with a few houses, bars and hotels. The turquoise water is warm and calm all year long, and the sand is fine and light. The beach is full of tall old coconut trees swaying in the breeze. The main attraction here is the 18th Century Chapel of São Benedito, which sits right on the water’s edge. It’s postcard perfect and made to order for taking some beautiful photos. There are not a lot of activities in the area—this is more of a “relax at the beach” kind of a beach. If you’re staying here, there are a few really good hotels to choose from and there is at least one excellent restaurant here (Beijupirá). There is a bar from which you can join a catamaran tour to some natural pools. Many folks come here just for the day from one of the many beach towns up and down the coast, like Porto de Galinhas (32 miles north or an hour drive), Maragogi (south about 33 miles or an hour drive). Whether you decide to stay here or only come for a day, you will be glad that you did, because it is unforgettably beautiful!
