Museu Lasar Segall, Sao Paulo
(4.3/5 based on 70 reviews on the web)
Showcasing paintings and sculptures of a distinguished Lithuanian-born artist who made his home in Brazil in 1923, Museu Lasar Segall contains nearly every work he created during his life in this country. The museum was founded in 1967 by Segall’s wife and children, and is housed in the family’s former residence, which has been carefully conserved to protect the spirit of the artist’s creative process. You can take a free guided tour or attend a brief course in Segall’s lesser-known areas of creativity, such as engraving and photography. The building also contains a library, a small movie theater, and a coffee shop. Drop in to learn about the work of this Modernist artist who transformed Brazilian art with his revolutionary use of color and lighting. For travelers who use our world travel planner, Sao Paulo holidays become easier to arrange, with trips to the Museu Lasar Segall and other attractions mapped out and timetabled.

  • The Museum is very small, and it was the House where Lasar Segall lived here in SP I expected a larger and more complete, but you have an interesting sample of the stages by which the painter passed and know a little of his life. The visit lasts on average 1 hour and a half. There's a café on site, but I did not get to consume anything. Admission is free, then it's worth it.

  • This museum, whose building housed the family of the artist Lasar Segall, always offers great free exhibitions, in addition to being located in a super nice space, surrounded by green. Inside the Museum there is a cinema room with fair price, where usually pass films that came out of the commercial circuit.

  • Excellent. I was watching "I'm Ingrid Bergman". Usually frequenting the Cine Segall. I'm also a fan of Lasar Segall, painter, sculptor, engraver. One of my favorites. The site has already been Klabin Segall's residence, giving rise to the neighborhood now known as Chácara Klabin.
