Monument to the Bandeiras, Sao Paulo

(4.1/5 based on 220+ reviews on the web)
Monument to the Bandeiras is a massive granite sculpture executed by Victor Brecheret represents the Bandeirantes (based off the Portuguese word for flag) following a chosen leader into Brazil's wild terrain. This group, memorialized in stone, pays homage to a strange history that makes Portugal proud and Spain wince. The brave Bandeirantes were men from different nations who formed a team whose mission included fighting their way into wild territories to claim land for the Portuguese crown. A blend of mercenaries, explorers, soldiers, and curious adventurers, these men helped forge the way for Brazil to become an independent nation. • A monument worth visiting. The details are beautiful and as part I consider the city's history should be checked. Place clean. Too bad there's not a place for awhile
