  • Mário de Andrade library, located within walking distance of both the Anhangabaú as República station, is the largest library of São Paulo. The building has undergone a comprehensive reform, now offering comfortable reading rooms and very nice. The service is very good. The loan of books is fast and efficient, done electronically. There are exhibitions and lectures frequently, almost always very interesting.

  • It's good to stay right in the center of town, near the Anhangabaú Metro station. It is a historic building, with a large collection, but nothing beyond that.

  • Has one of the largest collections of Brazil, has excellent infrastructure, very well cared for and was recently rebuilt.

  • Named after one of the Brazilian modernism biggest names is also one of the state main public library. It is second to none in Brazil. Unfortunately it is not 24/7 anymore, so check the hours. No parking nearby.
  • It looks good.
  • Imagine having to show your ID to enter a place that is a joke compared with libraries elsewhere. Ask to see the English books and you get four-page catalogue from which you have to choose although none of them are worth even considering no matter how desperate you are to read.
  • Nice architecture, worth stopping by if you're in the area
  • Polite and helpful staff plus free access to wifi!
