Latin America Memorial, Sao Paulo

4.2
#15 of 105 in Museums in Sao Paulo
Designed by Oscar Niemeyer, the prolific Brazilian architect, Latin America Memorial is a monument to the sociocultural and political unity of Latin America. Upon arrival, you will see a vast field of concrete, in which perfectly geometrical concrete pavilions stand alongside Niemeyer’s large, bleeding hand statue. As you explore inside, you will find galleries, an auditorium, and a library reflecting the ideas of Darcy Ribeiro, an influential cultural anthropologist, and creator of the Latin America Memorial concept. The permanent exhibition of paintings, sculpture, and folk art you will see on display represents the archetypes of Latin American cultures, not only strengthening the identity of its people, but also encouraging its creative development. The Latin America Memorial has a rotating schedule of performances and events, which enables you to join in with the celebrations of the past, present, and future of these people. • Great! Recommend! I went on a Sunday with a child of 2 years (not paid), the box office is full but as I bought the ticket on the Internet (2.00 rate in the value of the ticket) I don't know say the waiting time (direct, quick queue only joined to organize input). The exhibition is very good (I recalled the time of child who watched the program), the monitors help taking pictures for visitors and are attentive. I think it could be more interactive in some points. On the outside there food court who do not rate because it was raining and I left. I love to visit and recommend (exhibition closes in 04/02/18)

  • The exhibition is really fantastic, coming to the most nostalgic thrill. Well-organized, allows each make in your pace, and you can take pictures of objects, costumes and scenarios that marked the childhood of many children. Is very worthwhile! We ended up not exploring other Memorial spaces-who knows in the next exhibition.

  • The architecture of the place is very beautiful, there are free exhibitions, when I went, only one pays. If you are interested in the subject, it's worth a go as well in the Memorial of Inclusion, which is part of the complex.

  • Like all Niemeyer creations, it's all concrete and glass. No green areas whatsoever. A must see in Sampa. Great exibits! But don't forget the sunscreen...
  • I came here to see the Bolivia in Brazil Festival. The festival was great, but the venue was just okay. The building needs to be repainted or cleaned. There was no where to wash hands but 20 vendors were selling food.
  • The best exposition ever, brought me to the past, to my childhood, the love for the old TV shows is alive.
  • Great structure with diverse settings. Offers quiet a variety of events mainly cultural linked also to gastronomic experience.
  • A beatiful place for arts events.
