Latin America Memorial, Sao Paulo

(4.1/5 based on 550+ reviews on the web)
Designed by Oscar Niemeyer, the prolific Brazilian architect, Latin America Memorial is a monument to the sociocultural and political unity of Latin America. Upon arrival, you will see a vast field of concrete, in which perfectly geometrical concrete pavilions stand alongside Niemeyer’s large, bleeding hand statue. As you explore inside, you will find galleries, an auditorium, and a library reflecting the ideas of Darcy Ribeiro, an influential cultural anthropologist, and creator of the Latin America Memorial concept. The permanent exhibition of paintings, sculpture, and folk art you will see on display represents the archetypes of Latin American cultures, not only strengthening the identity of its people, but also encouraging its creative development. The Latin America Memorial has a rotating schedule of performances and events, which enables you to join in with the celebrations of the past, present, and future of these people. • The memorial is a classic of São Paulo has ample space with galleries that are presented by the collection, and the construction of the Oscar Niemeyer's building, but I think the location was stopped in time, if not reinvented, lacks a revitalization. (Toilets in terrible conditions). A pity that the site is having greater visitation because of the events that are occurring there (no relation to Latin America), than the exhibitions that offer. But I recommend to visit.

  • It is worth visiting the memorial when there is an event. Other than that, there's a quick display on the culture of peoples of Latin America.

  • The location is excellent for the exhibitions that take place, and there's always a lot of news to our knowledge of various aspects, every chance I get.

  • Most of the things were closed. Good place for taking pictures. I enjoyed spending time in the library which has WiFi and sockets to recharge my phone and camera.
  • This place is very large it has a couple of museums and a stage where live concerts are held. The local committee organisers festivals such as chocolate festival, craft beer festival and so on. It's a nice place to hang out with your family on the weekends
  • Amazing place for expositions and events, with a huge open area and close to subway and train stations. The problem is only when is raining, there are few spots to be protected from getting wet.
  • Really a cool place to check out
  • Super lugar incrivel!
