Complexo Cultural Júlio Prestes / Sala São Paulo, Sao Paulo

(4.8/5 based on 2,800+ reviews on the web)
Julio Prestes Cultural Center

Complexo Cultural Júlio Prestes / Sala São Paulo, located in an old train station, is noted for housing the famous Sala Sao Paulo, home of the Sao Paulo State Symphonic Orchestra. The venue features nearly 1,500 seats and is used for regular symphonic and chamber music performances. The site’s state-of-the-art design is often compared to that of the Boston Symphony Hall and Vienna’s Musikverein. The train station building was restored and renovated in the 1990s, as part of an important downtown revitalization project. The station’s large hall was chosen as the main performance space because like the finest 19th century concert halls, it resembles a shoebox, considered an optimal design for such venues. Check the center’s official website for an updated list of concerts and other special events. • What's not to be charmed with the beauty and modernity of the Sala São Paulo, one of the most important in Latin America. We arrived early and then we can take a guided tour that would begin soon. Pay $10.00/person and an extremely friendly and dedicated guide took us for a tour inside the Theatre with all information and trivia possible. The sala São Paulo is something crazy, breathtaking! Simply not to be missed this tour! Now, be careful on the outside ... the area is very bad. Super near cracolândia, i.e. have a "crazy" carrying the face of crazy over there all the time (although there is no policing costs stay tuned, eh?!).

  • I was at the concert, what happens on Sunday Morning the 11:00 and it's free. The local architecture is impressive and the acoustics of the concert hall is perfect. It is worth participating in the visit monitored. The historian of the founding Osesp account about the history of the place, the importance of the railroad and coffee (grounds for the construction of the Julio Prestes Station) and shows all the engineering that enabled the Sala São Paulo is the best show scholar of Latin America. The site has free parking and the value of the ticket more expensive when the 150 Osesp presents itself is real. Students and seniors pay half. If you don't want to pay anything and know the Morning Concert is a good

  • Next to the station of the Subway, the site has easy access, knowledgeable staff and concert options for all prices. The free concerts on Sunday the 11 A.M. is a great initiative. The acoustics of the place is exceptional, there's no way to explain, just listening to understand. The private parking is expensive (25.00 on my last visit), but no other parking options nearby.

  • One of most beautiful place at Sao Paulo city, a well conservative place of concert inside of a renewed building where part of Sao Paulo history were closed. Here we can see a structure of Julio Prestes railway station where part of citizens of Sao Paulo country were arrive in the past, and part of Coffee bean production passed here in a way of Santos port to be exportada abroad.
  • If you like classic music, be sure to visit this great Orchestra. OSESP is the name of the Sao Paulo State Orchestra, the main attraction at Sala Sao Paulo. Sala Sao Paulo has the best acoustics in Sao Paulo! And it is a graceful place. P.S.: be sure to go by car. The surroundings are not safe during evenings.
  • wonderful place inspired by the viennese musikverein, the beauty of the place is worth giving the local symphonica a shot
  • Great place to hear an orchestra. Brazil's finest!!! Very very beautiful place, clean and organized. Sala Sao Paulo is classified worldwide as one of the most beautiful orchestra halls. Tip: Every Sunday they have free orchestras at 11am so if you come by without a ticket before that time you can get in for free. :) a must visit place in Sao Paulo!!!
  • The best concert hall in Brazil. I just love to go on the evenings concerts on weekends. Always worth arriving early to enjoy the building and have a coffee before.
