Augusta Street, Sao Paulo

3.9
#5 of 12 in Neighborhoods in State of Sao Paulo
As the frenetic center of São Paulo's nightlife scene, you'll find a carnivalesque atmosphere almost every night of the week at Augusta Street. There are countless bars and nightclubs, ethnic eateries, vintage clothing stores, and live music venues in what used to be São Paulo's decaying red-light district, and almost without exception, in none of the establishments will you hear traditional Brazilian music. The scenes are dominated by local takes on punk, hip-hop, metal, indie rock and dance music. Defying Brazil’s legendary social stratification, the crowds are an eclectic mix from the city’s social spectrum, and you’ll rub shoulders with artists, hipsters, working professionals, and blue-collared folk, of all ages. When you come here expect mayhem, the good, São Paulo kind. Add Augusta Street and other attractions to your Sao Paulo trip itinerary using our Sao Paulo trip itinerary planner.

The street where the tribes merge alternatives, with new experiences, vegan restaurants, along with collaborative shops selling works by artists not so well known, a great cinema, pubcrawls to follow and a lot of people to meet. However, it is always good to take a care with security.

Rua Augusta is born almost in the center of São Paulo and to the United States, crossing the Street. From the Centre to the Paulista is called Downtown Augusta. Is the alternative, staff of Bohemia, of the bars. Especially at night is "the shake". The other section is the side gardens, passing by Lorena, Oscar Freire. Many shops, super cool things the optimal prices, good galleries, French restaurant is available. Many surprises. And more, is part of the history of São Paulo, the youth that, in years 60 and 70 earned freedom. It's a tradition.
