Praia do Patacho - Piscinas Naturais, Sao Miguel dos Milagres

4.6
#22 of 76 in Beaches in State of Alagoas
Beach Nature / Park
Upon arrival at the coast, you will be dumbfounded at the unspoiled nature and tranquility of the area. São Miguel dos Milagres fringes 15 km (9 miles) of beach, protected by both coral reef and lack of a highway; only those in the know take the local road that leads to a forest of coconut trees and scattered villages. At low tide, you can hire a jangadeiro--a small traditional fishing boat--and head to the Praia do Patacho - Piscinas Naturais, and on the journey, you should prepare yourself for paradise. These natural pools of crystal-clear blue-green ocean teem with marine fauna, including brightly colored fish, crabs, and octopi, as well as manatees that have ventured down from the river up the coast. The warm water is inviting and you can relax for hours, surrounded by wildlife, in almost total seclusion. You’ll be pushed to find a better way to spend your day. • Must, natural pools with fish of various species. Go only at low tide, consult the table of tides, good to go until 0.2 more than that gets high and can't see anything.

  • It was the highlight of our trip to Alagoas, knowing the natural pools of São Miguel dos Milagres. Beautiful place, I don't remember meeting until today a sea so beautiful inside of Brazil, we're taking the boat out there and spend if I'm not mistaken about of 1 hour and a half in the natural pools, the fish pass by our feet, the water is crystal clear, I don't think I've ever been in a place so beautiful. For those who like to take pictures, I think there can be no better place, without doubt is a paradise in the Brazilian coast.

  • For me is the best natural pool, followed by Japaratinga and after Maragogi. Is quite large and as there's not much fame is empty, you can enjoy a lot and with a fauna showww. The people need to be more careful because many tourists went up in corals and a woman came to lead a choir, but when I saw it was too late.

Where to stay in Sao Miguel dos Milagres

Untouched by high-rise hotels, Sao Miguel dos Milagres' accommodations are quirky, friendly, and often sandy. Most lodges sit directly on the beach, granting acess to sunrise views over the ocean for early risers. Because dining options in the area are limited, you may want to opt for accommodations with a restaurant. Families should be aware that several hotels and inns do not accept guests under 16 years of age.
