Ponta d'Areia Beach, Sao Luis
(1.3/5 based on 180+ reviews on the web)
Located in a World Heritage city and known to be one of its most popular spots, Ponta d'Areia Beach is just 4 kilometers (2.5 mi) from the historic cobblestoned town center. Local favorite, coconut water, can be bought right on the sand. Grab a glass and enjoy a long sunset, or walk over to a nearby mangrove-surrounded lagoon for a late solitary swim. Not far from here is a vibrant area lined with fashionable bars and restaurants, where you can try this region’s own version of the guaraná soft drink. Called "Jesus" (nothing religious, just the inventor’s name), this beverage is pink and is rather sweeter than others of its kind. • Good place to hang out at the beach especially during periods of low tide, when the sea recedes and form an extensive strip of sand between the sea and the shore. Under these conditions, it is ideal for families with children. At dusk, you can see the Sun falling on the horizon, forming a golden mirror above the sea. Visual cinematic, excellent for photography lovers. Worth checking out!

  • The proximity to the Lagoa da Jansen the Ponta da Areia receives the effect of the adverse effects of the foul winds and unhealthy.

  • Beautiful view but is not recommended for bathroom, at least in front of the hotel that we stayed. Many stones
