Ponta d'Areia Beach, Sao Luis

(1.2/5 based on 190 reviews on the web)
Located in a World Heritage city and known to be one of its most popular spots, Ponta d'Areia Beach is just 4 kilometers (2.5 mi) from the historic cobblestoned town center. Local favorite, coconut water, can be bought right on the sand. Grab a glass and enjoy a long sunset, or walk over to a nearby mangrove-surrounded lagoon for a late solitary swim. Not far from here is a vibrant area lined with fashionable bars and restaurants, where you can try this region’s own version of the guaraná soft drink. Called "Jesus" (nothing religious, just the inventor’s name), this beverage is pink and is rather sweeter than others of its kind. • Perhaps the most inappropriate to bath. Stay close to the Centre, there are bars and restaurants and hotels in the vicinity. Some reggae festivals occur there on weekends.

  • Is the urban beach of the city, has many buildings around and a vareada option to tents and bars.

  • Despite its natural beauty, the praia da Ponta d ´ Sand bath is discouraged, because the place turns into m real dump on weekends. Is so much trash thrown by regulars, and swimmer, which frightens any tourist who dares to approach the sea water.
