The site is recognized as a world heritage site by UNESCO and has housed the governors of the region since the 17th century. Most of the facade and the interior was renovated and redesigned in the 19th century, although the extensive rear wing wasn’t added until 1906. During these two consecutive periods, much of the decorative art and collection of artworks was acquired. • Very beautiful architecture. Has guided tour. Picture at the end. It really is more a postcard of the city. Be sure to visit when you're doing the walk in the historic centre. You can even start the ride by here.

  • Beautiful inside. Visitation every day, from 9am to 5pm with free guide
  • A Palace boasts a lush furnishings, parts of Europe, including French, Portuguese. A German Grand piano and beautiful paintings. The Palace has a fantastic architecture, sea views and a garden in the background we can summon up a joy from the satisfaction of being in a beautiful place. The Palace is also where the Governor of the State works, so visitation is made only in a part of the Palace. Where would you stay for hours, admiring the whole historical and cultural wealth of Maranhão.

  • Seat of Government of the State of Maranhão. Public building daily access of the population and politicians. In its dependencies breakdowns. In your area outside a building very beautiful and preserved. Is situated in an area by the sea, with huge walls because it is an area which at that time was used as a fortress of war. The night the building is closed after business hours, but their external dependencies are very busy because, besides the beauty of the building, there is always a beautiful decorative lighting that usually is modified according to the festivities of the season.
